BRIEFING

The following university project was developed during my semester abroad at Escola Superior de Artes e Design. It consisted in designing a Mobile Application for a touch device, through the concept of "cross-pollination": combining usual elements to give birth to an unusual idea. 

CONCEPT

My solution was to create an app for men and women with the objective of educating themselves on gender issues, through the interface form and video call. As the main goal of the concept was based on empathy, the name Sentient was chosen, deriving from the latin word for birth, being part of the etymology of “gender”; and meaning responsive to or conscious of living beings. 

A gender neutral aesthetic, a bold typography, a dual usage of the app (as an explainer/ as a learner); were some of the characteristics that led to the creation of this hypothetical project that I aim to turn into reality.

BRIEFING

The following dissertation project for my Bachelor Degree at Rome University of Fine Arts had no precise briefing, as it aimed to be the closure of each student’s personal path. The only requirements were linked to the choice of a project that could reflect the interests and personal growth of the undergraduates.

CONCEPT

Myths, memories, culture, all elements that show how the identity of a nation implies having to identificate with the persistent presence of its past. The identity it’s an image in which the present dominates the scene, but the past dictates the destiny.

After having concluded one year abroad in the city of Porto, my interests were mainly linked to the nature behind Portugal’s civilization. With a primarily extensive research, my dissertation became focused on exposing the origins behind such a melancholic population.

Grammaroli,

BRIEFING

The following project consisted in the rebranding, copywriting and website design of Grammaroli, an italian artisan business specialized in the processing of marble, with its headquarters and laboratory in Rome, Via dei Reti, 21.

CONCEPT

The concept had the aim of emphasizing the primordial role of the material in making Rome the capital of the world through its art: “Rome caput mundi, Grammaroli caput Rome”. For its realization, the elegance and classicism of Roman sculptures blend with a modern typography to give rise to the new image of Grammaroli.

BRIEFING

The annual contest of Tipografare  requested its participants to design a calendar addressing the topic of “print”. A blank canvas with no extrict limitations besides format requirements. Therefore, the interpretation of the topic was free, leaving space to use this in my advantage in order to slightly subvert the briefing.

CONCEPT

Realizing the extended area around the universe of print, I decided to develop a concept that would go further than the stereotypical images linked to it. 

Gustave Flaubert defined censorship as something even more outrageous than a murder. From this idea my 2020 calendar “Libertà di Stampa” (Freedom of the press) was born, with the intention of representing censorship as an attack on the human mind.

Through the utilization of materials and papers of daily use, the visuals simulate some of the effects originally obtained by using analog techniques that preceded the invention of print. Letterpress, Decadry and collages compose the months of this project that was finally awarded in second place.

BRIEFING

The following Editorial Design briefing consisted in the ideation of a concept & design of a hypothetical newspaper that would address metropolitan issues.

CONCEPT

My solution was Pasaporte, a newspaper that was born with the intention of gathering the iconographic repertoire of cities. Pasaporte aims to outline and motivate the origins and consequences behind some of the mental images that are universally and, often unconsciously, linked to some regions.

Starting from this idea, an inserted Magazine was designed in order to serve as an in-depth study of one territory through the work of photographers that capture the iconographic repertoire of the place. Leandro Colantoni’s shots of the Sicilian territory, Juan Brenner’s representations of Mexican religious iconography and the reflection of the margins of the American dream from the lens of Bryan Schutmaat; these are just some of the inspirations on which the project was built.

BRIEFING

The briefing of the prestigious contest One More Pack 2020 consisted in the design of a perfume packaging for a Jacqueline Onassis Special Edition for “Carthusia”, a traditional fragance business in Capri.

CONCEPT

Having earned a degree in French Literature, completed a photoreportage stage in Vogue, and produced the illustrated autobiography “One Special Summer” with her own sketches; I saw on Jacqueline Onassis luxurious figure the inner image of a woman with an extreme sensibility for everything connected to arts and manual skills. 

For this reason, I decided to represent this creative side of hers through my concept, making the main aspect of my project a hypothetical friendship bond between the client and Jackie. The final product consists of a packaging that represents what Jacqueline could have desired to communicate if she had written a letter from Capri to one of her old friends.
